In partnership with the Doyon Foundation, WAYK returns to the Fairbanks region to keep working with some of the many Athabascan languages in the interior of Alaska. This four-week visit focuses on continued training for participants of past workshops, especially small group immersion sessions.
The first two weeks of this visit will be focused on Gwich’in. The Gwich’in training will begin with a one-day No Pressure Refresher Workshop on January 2, 2016 (from 9 am-5 pm). This workshop will be focused on reviewing Techniques and immersion strategies for Gwich’in speakers and learners who have already attended a WAYK workshop, but the event is open to all–new Gwich’in learners as well as other language learners in Fairbanks.
The initial workshop will be followed by daily sessions for small groups of Gwich’in learners and speakers from January 3-15.
