X̱aad Kíl Née August 2025 Workshop & Program Launch

The WAYK team will travel to Masset for a four-week visit in August and September 2025.

This will be our first visit to provide a workshop for X̱aad Kíl Née and support as they launch the first cohort of their full-time adult immersion program this September. This program will run in partnership with Simon Fraser University’s Indigenous Languages Program. X̱aad Kíl Née’s current project is a continuation of ongoing efforts to create and support emerging speakers of X̱aad Kíl. The full-time program  focuses on proficiency development through language immersion.

The WAYK team will provide support leading up to the program launch as well as an introductory workshop that will include the X̱aad Kíl Née core team, guest learners, speakers and elders, students in the new cohort, and other community members.
