Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Spring 2025 Visit

The WAYK team returns to hitac̓u for a two-week visit in March 2025. Our ongoing collaboration with the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Department of Culture, Language & Heritage brings us back to the west coast of Vancouver Island this spring.

The language team at Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ has been working since the Summer of 2024 to develop and pilot a part-time adult immersion program in nuučaan̓uł for their citizens. The YFN team has been collaborating closely with the team at c̓išaaʔatḥ Fist Nation over the past several years in an effort to model their new program on the Adult Intensive Program that is now in its 5th year at c̓išaaʔatḥ.

The WAYK team is excited to work with the YFN core team on activities designed to advance their own fluency. We will also devote time during this visit to long-term strategic planning and logistics in anticipation of launching a new learner cohort in winter of 2026.
