Alaska Native Heritage Center Follow Up Training

WAYK returns to the Alaska Native Heritage Center for a follow-up training with their Yup’ik and Iñupiaq teaching teams. In preparation for this training, the WAYK team has visited classes to determine what elements of WAYK will be most helpful for teachers in the final year of their grant. This training will focus on incorporating WAYK Techniques into the other language teaching methods the instructors have received training in (Total Physical Response and Accelerated Second Language Acquisition). Additionally, the WAYK team will share demonstration lessons building up to a task-based immersion activity, making a cup of cocoa in the language. The WAYK team will answer questions from the teaching teams about their experiences utilizing WAYK in their classrooms so far.
