As APIA (the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association) enters the second year of their three-year language initiative with support from ANA (the Administration for Native Americans), the WAYK team returns to Anchorage for two weeks of sessions in the Fall of 2016.
Week 1: October 10 – October 14, 2016
Week 2: December 5 – December 9, 2016
During both of these visits, The WAYK team will continue to work with the Niiĝuĝim Tunuu and Qawalangim Tunuu language teams based in Anchorage and Wasilla. As always, our goal is to work with small groups of learners and speakers of both dialects of Unangam Tunuu in short sessions (1-2 hours), in an effort to refine existing lessons and curriculum, develop skills in both teaching and immersion, and increase fluency. The precise content of these small group sessions will be tailored to the needs of the attendees. In addition to small group sessions, the WAYK team will support existing and emerging Unangam Tunuu language gatherings in Anchorage and Wasilla.
