WAYK 2018 Summer Language Intensive

Alaska Native Heritage Center Follow-Up Training 2018

Kodiak Fall Visit 2017

The WAYK team will visit with the Alutiiq language team in Kodiak, Alaska to support them as they enter the second year of their ANA Native Language Community Coordination Project. We are excited to check in with the team as they continue on their five-year project and work to expand their Alutiiq Language Nest for pre-school aged children in addition to reviewing and strengthening existing curriculum to support elementary, middle school, high school, and college Alutiiq learners.

Beyond an introduction to the essentials of WAYK, the workshop will focus on strategies for immersion sessions, particularly those that might be useful for adult learners, both for participants in the SENĆOŦEN Master Apprentice program and in the adult language classes offered through the Saanich Adult Education Centre.
