Songhees Nation Introductory Workshop

The WAYK team will visit with Songhees First Nation to provide a 6-day introductory workshop for their Lekwungen Language team. The workshop will be conducted over two weekends (Friday-Sunday) in early February. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all six days of the workshop. WAYK returns to the Alaska Native Heritage Center for a follow up training with their Yup’ik and Iñupiaq teaching teams. WAYK 2016 Summer Language Intensive

This summer five WAYK players, including 3 WAYK interns, and members of the regional Unangam Tunuu core team will travel to Atka to work with a team of local speakers and youths, organized by Crystal Dushkin. Master-Apprentice Team Training in Port Graham, Alaska

Alaska Native Heritage Center Follow Up Training

WAYK returns to the Alaska Native Heritage Center for a follow up training with their Yup’ik and Inupiaq teaching teams. This training will focus on using WAYK Techniques in the classroom as well as designing lesson plans that incorporate WAYK activities (buckets, walks, games) and lead up to a milestone conversation (an introduction, a song, a story, etc.). The WAYK team will answer questions from the teaching teams about their experiences utilizing WAYK in their classrooms so far.

Master-Apprentice Team Training in Port Graham, Alaska
